Turn off automatic Windows updates
Windows update occurring randomly + automatically
If your Windows 10 PC experience issues such as “Configuring Windows update” which runs automatically and randomly, follow the procedure:
- Click on Start Menu and scroll down to “Settings”.
- Click on “Update & Security”.
- Click on “Windows Update”.

- Ensure you have the options set to ‘Off’ as previewed in screenshot below.

Turn off on options:
- Give me updates for other Microsoft products when I update Windows update.
- Automatically download updates, even over metered data connections (charges may apply).
- Show a notification when your PC requires a restart to finish updating (under Update notifications)
